Helping others through difficult times
Anonymous

In the summer of 1991, friend called in a prayer request for her 21-year-old daughter who was to have surgery in a few days.  When I hung up the phone, I wrote a simple prayer for a successful operation for the daughter.  I wrote the words, “Please, God, guide the hands of the surgeon so that a successful operation will occur, and the daughter will have a complete recovery from this purification.”  (I also prayed for the daughter and her mother to grow in spiritual awareness through this experience.)

The next time I heard from the mother was in 1993.  This time she was trying to locate a source of Johrei for a friend who was going through a tough time in Ohio.  I told her that I would find out for her and get back in touch as soon as possible.

Just as I was about to say good-bye, she said to me, “Oh, by the way, my daughter’s operation was a miracle.  It look her a full year to recover, but it was a miracle.”

When I asked her to elaborate, she told me that her daughter had gone into the hospital for a colostomy.  However, after a year, she had recovered so well from her ordeal it was not necessary for her to have the device attached to her body.  She had a perfect recovery.

The surgeon who performed the operation told her that this was the most remarkable operation that he had ever performed.  The surgeon said that while he was operating, an unseen force began to manipulate his hands, guiding him through the procedure.  He said that he was profoundly moved.  It was a miracle.  It was the best operation that he had ever performed.

Significant points:

1.     Sincerity.  The mother had come about a dozen times to receive Johrei at considerable expense to herself.  She made sacrifices and was very sincere.

2.     Act immediately.  The first thing I did after hanging up the phone when taking her prayer request was to reach for the prayer form and say a prayer.  There was no delay.

      3.     Do not worry.  Then I forgot about it.
